Developer Preview: The Google Slides Model Context Protocol (MCP) server now supports reading and managing presentation comments:

  • Include comments when reading a presentation or slide page by setting the optional commentsIncluded field on the read_presentation and read_slide_page tools.
  • Create, reply to, resolve or reopen, update, and delete comments and replies using the update_presentation tool with the insertComment, addCommentReply, updateCommentPost, deleteComment, and deleteCommentReply operations.

Developer Preview: The Google Slides Model Context Protocol (MCP) server and its reference documentation include the following updates:

  • Added the read_slide_page tool to read a single slide page from a presentation and the read_slide_page_thumbnail tool to retrieve a thumbnail image of a slide page.
  • Added the optional fields field mask parameter to read_presentation and updated ReadPresentationResponse.content to object (Struct format).
  • Added the optional writeControl (WriteControl with requiredRevisionId) parameter and inline request schemas for all presentations.batchUpdate operations to update_presentation.
  • Expanded the Tool Annotations section across tool reference pages with definitions of readOnlyHint, destructiveHint, idempotentHint, and openWorldHint.

MCP is an open protocol that enables seamless integration between AI applications and your presentations. By configuring the Slides MCP server, you enable AI agents to securely interact with your presentations and take actions, such as reading slide content or updating layouts.
